Learn the foundations of Yoga with a beginner course, so you can approach any class with confidence

SOW THE SEEDS

Are you curious to give Yoga a try, but feel uncomfortable signing up to a group class?

We know it can be daunting to begin your Yoga journey. Often, studio classes are for mixed level students, and whilst this creates a wonderful community, it can be an intimidating place to start.

If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place - this course is designed specifically for beginners. You will learn Yoga postures, breath-work & mindfulness techniques that will enable you to feel comfortable and confident on the mat.

What will I learn?

  • Yoga Pose Foundations

We will explore the foundational poses that you find in many Yoga classes.

We will break these down - learning alignment, and modifications to adapt the pose to suit your body.

We will also study common sequences such as Sun Salutations and Vinyasas. These are included in many Yoga classes, and knowing them will help you to feel more comfortable in any studio.

  • Connection with your Breath

Breath is important in any Yoga class - together we will learn how to unite movement with your inhales, and exhales.

We will learn how to tap into the power of the breath, and explore how it can help us to hold postures more comfortably.

Together we will explore breath control techniques that are scientifically proven to help calm your mind, and centre your focus.

  • Yoga Mindfulness

Unlike a typical fitness class, the lessons that you learn in Yoga can be taken into your daily life. A regular practise can improve your stress adaptation, calm your mind, and sharpen your focus.

We will explore the Yogic principle of Ahimsa - or ‘Non Harm’. Together we will learn how to treat your body and mind respectfully, so that you can have the best experience possible in any Yoga class you choose to attend.

  • Feeling at Home in a Studio

We will break down a typical Yoga studio timetable and study the class types available so you can understand what you are signing up for, before you arrive on your mat.

We will also explore which props you will find in a Yoga studio, and how you can use them to best support your practise.
